Prayers for a friend

For those so inclined, a dear friend of mine is currently undergoing brain surgery at the Mayo clinic. He has a brain tumor, if it’s malignent, they sew him up and go chemo, if not they’re taking it out. He is a live for cycling guy, even asked the Doc if the surgery could wait, despite his having no testostrone. At 33 it’s a terrifying ordeal as we watch and wait. For me he’s the guy who understands what we do and why we do it. No criticisism for the time and money spent. When he asks how’s the ride, you can smile and say “hard” and he gets it. Unlike the wife and friends who think were nuts. I certainly can’t imagine watching a once healthy friend on his game being wittled to death by a disease. His name is Duane, we call him Duey.

Mine too.

May peace go out to “Duey”, to his family, and his friends during this tough time. God will see him through.

Good luck and prayers for Duey’s surgery. Hope things come out OK.

Prayers are with him and his family, hope he’s back on his bike soon.

This is so unfortunate…it is sad indeed. I will say a prayer for sure. Fran

Prayers for Marko and Duey.

I’ll be thinking about him running my marathon sunday… I hope he makes it.

I’ll keep him in my thougths…

I’ll think good thoughts for him during my ride tomorrow morning.

I will keep him in my thoughts and prayers and pass the message along to my friends.

I wish Duey the best of luck and a speedy recovery.

Let me know if I can do anything else to help.

Marko,

We are on it here.

At the risk of sounding trite, trust that the Lord will provide. Look at how He is already at work in Duey’s life. He is being treated at one of the world’s best care facilities. He has a buddy – you – who has to courage to go out on line and solicit prayer. And, he has recently provided the cancer-beating (including brain tumors) example of Lance Armstrong. Lance professes not to be a believer, and that is his prerogative, but if you are a believer like I am, you know there were stronger forces at work than just Lance’s sheer force of will. God knit Lance together in his mother’s womb in a way that was uniquely designed to help him beat cancer and then go on to do great things and inspire lots of people. One of my prayers is that He will have knit Duey in a similar fashion.

Be strong, have the courage to keep praying, and we will do what we can on this end to lift Duey up in prayer.

In His Dust,

Stan

He’s got my vote. Hope all is well in the end.
