PrairieMan HIM - Sept 13th

Looking forward to this event minus the rain…but with the current fronts over Texas it looks like the rain is here to stay at least for this weekend.

Any others competing?

Yup, it looks like it’s going to be a wet one…at least until the sun comes out and then it will just be brutally steamy, as is usually the case.

Not racing, saving that for Redman the following weekend, but will be sponsoring the aid station at mile 10 on the run. Right off the dam when folks will probably be in need of a little pep talk. Look for the Gorillas…we’ll be the loudest, most rambunctious bunch on the course!

See ya Sunday!

I’ll be there - a little rain might make that long run on the dam a little cooler, if we’re lucky!

Last year Jack didn’t have any gel on the run course so check so you’ll be prepared
to carry your own. It is a good race.
Glad to have you coming to Redman will be a great race.

I plan to get there around 2:30 tomorrow afternoon and then do at least one loop of the bike course to see the road conditions. I am staying at a Hamption Inn around 11 miles North on 360. What distance is the Redman? I have reserve duty next weekend and then prep for my 90 day rotation in Balad, Iraq. So, this is my last race of this season.

Last year I got rain for about half a mile around mile 9-10 on the dam. I thought it would be nice but the humidity for the next 2 miles was miserable  Fun course I just haven’t got enough long training in this year so I’m skipping it this year.

Good luck to all the racers!

What a race! The rain never stopped and the flooding was all over. Despite the conditions, several hundred of us dedicated triathletes competed in the sprint and half distances. Of course, the half bike seg was reduced to 42 miles but still a challenge. The rain seemed to subside on the run but cooler temps helped.

Thanks to all of the volunteers and the gorilla team on the run stops. Did not need your services but an inspiration when coming back from the dam.

We had a blast!!

Still raining…will it ever end?

Waking up to see it pouring outside was a nightmare! And of course when race is over and get home the rain stops. Go figure…
