Practical joke / surprise party

I am tapping into your collective wisdom and hope you can help me with this situation. The other day, I put 2 and 2 together and realized that my wife is throwing a “surprise” birthday party for me. The purported date is this Saturday but the party has been moved to Friday. I would love to do a twist on this… with the surprise on my wife. I thought of an obvious twist such as playing dumb and saying I can’t come home as I have work to do and then show up unannounced, but wondered if you had suggestions. My wife and I play practical jokes on each other and try to trick each other often. I have never been able to surprise her with anything other than when we first got engaged, and this is my golden chance to surprise. Every other attempt I have made has met with miserable failure.

Change the locks Friday morning so she can’t even get in the house?

Bring your boyfriend.

Funny!

Hand her divorce papers. She’ll be surprised.

You should have a stripper show up instead of you… maybe they drive your car so that everything thinks it’s you pulling into the driveway.

Just curious–how much work do you think went into this little shindig she has planned? If it’s more than just calling your friends and having them show up you may just want to let her have her moment. I hate to sound like a wuss, but I get the feeling your day (and night) would go MUCH better if you let her have her moment of surprise–I wouldn’t take the chance that she’ll be disappointed as it would probably make for a lousy night. I mean, let’s be honest here: for a married man in the AVERAGE relationship, his birthday is one of the few days a year that he’s guaranteed to get some (there are exceptions–those poor bastards). Sorry ladies, I know there are exceptions!! I don’t know your particular situation (please DON’T share), but there will be plenty of other times to get her back. Just a guy wishing you marital bliss  enjoy!

How do you know that you finding out about the party isn’t part of some elaborate scheme to pull a prank on you?

maybe the joke is on you. she is simply setting you up to* think* you have a surprise party. and you come home and NOTHING!!

I don’t care who you are, that there is funny!

That has potential… I could have someone drive the car for me and I would come through the back door, sneak up on everyone, and yell surprise.

It could be… we’ve done this kind of stuff to each other before.

Damn, you’re sicker than I am. I was thinking showing up drunk, half naked with a hooker…

Could you guess everyone that’s going to be there?

If so get them all to ring at 5 minute intervals in the run up to the party and tell your wife they can’t make it. You come home to an empty house and she’s gutted because she thinks the party is a wash out. You arrive and tell her it doesn’t matter and 10 minutes after that all your guests show up.

just let her do her thing and don’t ruin it. your ideas are really bad ones, trust me. let it alone, or you could really fuck everything up.

now, if your mind starts to race because you really want to turn the prank around on her, remember this: makeup sex is a far second to birthday sex. you’re risking the best sex of the year and will blow it. this advice alone should be enough to keep both heads on straight.

kittycat,

This is reminiscent to the punchline of a joke. “Yeah, but I only get birthday sex once a year…I can get make up sex almost every day, sometimes twice!” How great would make-up sex on your birthday be?!?

For some reason, my replies to comments don’t show up when I quote others’ comments. In response to Kittycat’s comments: I appreciate what Kittycat has to say. Trust me - I would never do anything to jeopardize not having sex. LOL. As it is, we planned the party together, for it to happen on Saturday, and the only surprise is that it happens on Friday. And we play jokes on each other all the time.

God, i don’t know, but you sir are a genuis!
