Powertap zero torque question

Hello,

I have been using my powertap 2.4 for about a year now with no problems.

I realized yesterday that I have not zero the hub … ever. As I was riding yesterday I checked and saw that the CPU went to zero while coasting.

Do I still need to zero the unit even though it is going to zero on its own?

Thanks!

.

No, you do not. However, you should get in the habit of zeroing the head on a regular basis. I’d say every week. Every ride if you’re riding a trainer.

If you have the computer set to auto zero then you don’t need to zero it ever as it will autozero every time you coast.

Exactly. And I’m fairly certain that auto-zero torque is on by default too.

I’ve owned about 4 different PTs over the last 5 or so years. The recommendation to frequently zero your torque is highly overrated, imho. It made sense about 3+ years ago but this feature is quite solid in the more recent firmware versions.

Thanks, Chris
