I think I’ve narrowed down the field to 2 candidates to pair with a powertap. Neuvation M28 Aero3 or a DT Swiss 1.2 from wheelbuilder.com. I’d like to use the wheel for everything. Training indoors/out and racing tris from sprint to IM with a wheel cover. I have a Jet60 front, but the hed w/PT is a bit too spendy. Which would be the better between the 2? Also, any other candidates that I may have overlooked?
Thanks - Mark

I suggest calling Rich at WheelBuilder and asking for his recommendation. I thought I wanted the DT Swiss, but he convinced me to go with the Kinlin 30mm and I’m very happy with the choice.
Similar to you, I have a Hed Jet 90 up front and have the Kinlin w/ a PT hub in the back. Just throw on the wheel cover and I’m ready to race!
I bought a tubular 32 spoke Mavic box section wheel and use it for everything, I can put a cover over it and glue on a decent tire for TT racing, then next day glue on a knobby tire and use it for cyclocross training. It takes the abuse real well. If I had a perfect world, I’d have a second one so I could keep a road tire on one wheel, but I find that doing a lot of my training on a diamond tread 32c tire is fine.
I’m hopingthat I will be able to develop a better sense of pace using this in TT races and will no longer feel the need for it. I have used it for maybe 6 weeks now and the numbers indicate I’m pacing myself better, but my times were actually better without it. It does keep me from blowing up or goofing off when the course is fast, however. I’m starting to get the feeling for what x watts feels like coming up through my shoes.
