Powertap SL Installation Question

Is the installation of my SL something I can do myself or should I get
my LBS to do it. I would like to think I can follow directions well,
and do some work on my bikes myself. Major stuff I still have them do.
If it is something I can do myself, does anyone have some good
pictures of their installation they could post or email (PM for addy) to me? Thanks.

If you’re not talking about building the wheel, but just running the wires, etc., it’s a piece of cake.

I bring my bike to the shop all of the time as I’m not very handy with repairs/tuneups/etc., but I was able to do this without a problem.

Yes, just running the wires. Wheel is built. Pics?

I just followed the instruction with the placement of the rear sensor. I’m not very creative when it comes to running wires, so I have black tape all over my bike

It works though.

Installing the wire is crazy simple - no need for an LBS.

The only thing that can make it more difficult is customizing the length - which I did with a soldering iron and some heat shrink tubing.

It’s quite simple actually - the only thing you have to watch is the placement of the sensor - it should be (almost) as close as possible to the hub. Run the wires along the stays and top-tube. I use plastic nylon ties to secure the wire to the stays/top-tube. You may even want to eliminate the the cadence sensor as it just adds one more wire to secure (the hub will still calculate cadence if you wish). At the cockpit, simply wrap the wire around the closest cable to the headtube and lead it up to the handlebar.

I think there are some installation videos available on cycle-ops website.
