Powertap reliability?

I am thinking about getting a Powertap but was reading the graberproducts.com website forum and these things sound fairly unreliable in terms of hubs failing, batteries dying, and lost data. The product support didn’t look too stellar either based on users’ comments. Thoughts anyone who owns one? Is this a fair assessment? Thanx.

The original (Tune) PTs, identifiable by the matte gray finish, were/are notorious for having poor seals, letting in water. This meant taking the cover off and drying out the insides. The new (Graber) PTs, with a shiny finish, are not susceptible to this. The new computers (the Pro) seem to have an issue with dropped data; I thought that this had been addressed. The old PTs ate batteries for lunch; the new ones are much better at energy usage.

I’ve owned one of the Tune hubs for many years.

Graber’s customer service is stellar. If you call them (get their number from the Web site), you will have your problem addressed to your satisfaction. I’ve had them send me replacement stuff without me having to send the broken stuff first. I asked from some new zip ties (you can use like 9 to install the receiver), and they sent me about 10 packets of zip ties and batteries, gratis.

Where is this forum?
