Anyone know if the wireless powertap Sl is going compatible with the new Garmin 310xt watch, or the 405 for that matter?
also do you think the wireless version is worth spending the dollars to upgrade?
looking to buy the sl just don’t know if I wanna go wireless or not.
wired on ebay, wireless new…

**Compatible? It’s ANT+ so yeah… they work. Only prob is if the 310xt can pick up the signal. Have heard some complaints about it’s inability to received the signal from the hub (too far). **

that’s for you to answer… it’s your preference.

what do you value more… clean lines and a lighter pocket book or vice versa.
I run a wireless SL and use the 310XT and haven’t had a problem with the signal. I do notice a difference in the readings between the Garmin and the PT computer though. For example yesterday I did a 103 mile ride and the PT head showed an average power of 167 watts and WKO+ showed a normalized power of 201 watts. The XT showed an average power of 194 watts.
On rides like this I only use the Garmin to record the total climbing for the ride since I do a lot of rides in the mountains, this particular ride had 11,471ft of climbing and the PT head doesn’t record altitude. I also like the Garmin for interval workouts because there are more power display options then what is available on the PT head. The Garmin also picks up the cadence numbers fromt the PT hub, but they are a calculated cadence, not actual, but it is pretty close.
I don’t have any experience with the wired version of PT but the one thing that pushed me away from considering the wired version was the problems a lot of people seemed to have in wet weather with it.
the garmins should be fine with the ANT+ versions of the PT.
I would definitely go wireless over wired. It is far more reliable in my experience (quite different internals). The wire kits are not that good - and do break down relatively quickly too (not very UV protected I guess).
