Powertap elite+ vs pro+

Seems that the only difference is the weight (negligible at my level) and peak power.
What is peak power and do I really need it?

I’ve read that it shows my time in certain power zones (I’m guessing that’s % of my FTP?) I’m not sure if I want to spend an additional $200 for something I can eye out myself.

Am I correct about my assessment or is the pro+ worth the extra bucks?

Your assessment seems about right. I’ve been telling my clients it’s not worth the extra bucks. Might as well save it and buy RaceDay or WKO+.

Thanks!

Any other opinions?

I went through the same thing a month or so ago…

Elite+ doesnt have HR function is the big one…I still haven’t decided whether to spend 200 bones to have it all built into one or to have the powertap head unit + my Polar watch clustering up my cockpit.

I am doing exactly the same factor balancing now. On the Elite+ side, I am switching out the axle to cromo anyway because I want the stiffness (185lbs), so weight is not an issue. On the Pro+ side, I like the greater data recording capacity (2x) and the fact that after a training ride, I can download only one device. Plus, I hate later wishing I had just sucked it up and gotten the better one.

So much technology, so little money . . .

I think they all record 15 hours of data- elite+, pro+ and sl+. I saw it on some website.

Take a look at p.25 of the manual. http://www.saris.com/pdfManuals/362.pdf

Elite+has the stronger/heavier axle and freehub body. This may be an advantage or disadvantage. There have been reports of people bending the lighter axles, and having cassettes chew up the lighter freehub bodies. I recently upgraded my older Pro with Saris, and I got the best of both worlds for me, the Elite+ with the upgraded computer from the Pro+.
