Powertap CPU eats batteries?

i feel like ive had to change powertaps cpu batteries pretty often, probably around every 2 months even with the power save option of 1 min. anyone else experience this?

Are you leaving it in the download cradle? I have heard that can cause what you are dealing with even when it does not look like it is “on”

I recently changed the batteries in my CPU and I changed the batteries in one of my hubs today. It seems like i need to change batteries way too often. Unfortunately, I’m not riding enough to justify the battery drainage compared to the estimates in the Saris manual. My theory is that I need to pay for better batteries. I bought a bunch of batteries on ebay and other on-line retailers - perhaps past their expiration. Where did you get your batteries?

take it off the crasle after downloading. Don’t use the hearing aid batteries, splurge and get some good batteries.

I change hub batteries every year it seems and head unit batteries every roughly 2 years.

What are “good” batteries?

I’ve had a problem with my hub eating up batteries way too fast.
Saris advised me to switch from regular, cheap hearing aid batteries to “Energizer” batteries.

Just made the switch, so I’ll just wait and see.

x2. Get Energizer batteries from the store. Not from online.

For the hub you need to make sure you’re using silver-oxide batteries (SR44), not the manganese-dioxide variety (LR44).

I’ll try that too, I’ve been using Duracell and have been switching out a lot this year 3 times, but the original lasted me a whole season last year and I think it was an Energizer, wouldn’t think the 2 would be that different.
