Powerman North Carolina: anyone know the course yet?

Is it flat, rolling or very hilly?

Dave from VA

No, I’ve contacted them and they said they don’t have it yet. I go there on buisness occasionally so I am planning on riding it in the spring when I find out what it is. I’ll post my findings after a exploration ride.

They have not decided on a course yet as far as they have let on. Bill did mention at the NCTS awards banquet that it would be in the Raleigh, Sanford area. This means that it is not flat but not mountainous. If you have done any of the Raleigh area Tri’s (Triangle, Duke 1/2 or whole, Pinehurst) or last years March Mauler it will be pretty similar. Rolling with very few if any true flat spots and several steeper short sections.

My guess is that Powerman NC will be the exact same course as the March Mauler.

PowerMan NC will be in Carrboro, which is right next to Chapel Hill. It’s not going to be the same course as the March Mauler, but that race is still on the schedule. The Mauler is in Sanford, about an hour from the new PowerMan.

I don’t know the exact route, but if you’re familiar with the area, it heads out Old Fayetteville Rd from McDougle Middle School, and then makes a left onto Dairyland Rd. I’d describe the roads out there as rolling. There won’t be anything too hard, just a few false flats, maybe a bit of wind, and some small rollers. The exact course should be up at www.set-upinc.com on December 1. I’m pretty excited that the race is all of ten minutes from my house. Now if I could just run without Achilles pain…
