I was wondering if anyone out there has experienced breathing difficulties when running?
I struggle to break 6 min miles, (and I never tt more than 3-4 miles) and my breathing seems very shallow when i try. I dont really have too many problems swimming or biking or even doing run sprints. I average only 24-30 miles in the week so maybe that could be a prob. though its a bit disheartening when one of my training partners is a chain smoker and has no problem with 64min for 10 mile in training, and then lighting up “because they always taste better after exercise”
has anyone had any joy with those power breath thingys? or are they just another fad to separate me from my money??
A team I raced for had a sponsor by the name of Respironics. They do c-pap machines etc. Anyway they had a device that was suppose to strengthen your lungs. We did a 12 week test with them and found no improvement in max vloume inhalation or peak exhalation force. They weren’t a sponsor the next year.
It sounds to me like you are chest breathing rather than belly breathing. If chest moves but your stomach doesn’t expand like you just eaten a burito you aren’t breathing right and getting full use of your lungs.
