Does anyone have first hand experience using Power Cranks? The manufacturer seems to back with a abundance of positive testimony on their web-site. However, I would prefer to get some real world comments. I’m thinking about giving them a tri.
Oh, for the love of this site and all that is holy, please, PLEASE use the search function for this one…

No, I don’t think anyone here has ever heard of them.
No, I don’t think anyone here has ever heard of them.
And even if they had, they certainly wouldn’t discuss them here.
I don’t ever hear about them in normal triathlon training talk nor in tri magazines… maybe more of a pure cyclist thing?
PLEASE you are not Frank in a Cybil mode? Do you remember that book of the multiple personalities? Yes use search PLEASE

While, I guess, it is reasonable to ask him to use the search function what he is going to get mostly are links to the interminable debates between me and a bunch of naysayers mostly.
I think it is very reasonable for him to come here and ask if anyone here has any first hand experience with them and what that might be. If the nay-sayers would stay away (since none of them seem to have any first hand experience with them) and let those with experience simply post what that experience is wouldn’t life be wonderful.
any updates on the big test project? when are the results going to be in? It has been 6 months or so correct?
Right Frank. Um, I tried them once, but who let me tried them, I will let him say his experiance. It is not always positive, though you have your followers. Its just your endless promo shit. I will not reply again…and thats the point
“Your search for Power Cranks returned 4807 Results.”
“Your search for PCs returned 2378 Results.”
You should check out the search results and report back with a summary of what you learn.

Let me ask you a question. What if his original post had been, “I am torn between getting a new Cervelo or a new Felt. Would any of you who have first hand experiences with these bikes please give me your experiences” Do you think your reply would have been “Do a search, we have heard all this before” or
" "Your search for Cervelo returned 40225 results "
“Your search for felt returned 34239 results”
Check out those results and report back with a summary of what you learn."
Internet forums are sort of like sports magazines. There are only so many things that can be discussed/written about. It is inevitable that with enough time topics get done over, and over, and over (this sometimes drives the “old-timers”, who have heard it all before, crazy). If Dan’s only thought were to put out information, at some point he would stop new posts and only “need” the search button. He would soon find his traffic down to zero me thinks. New users to a forum typically don’t search that forum for everything that has been written about the topic before they post. When Dan finds a post innappropriate he has shown the ability to get rid of them but I think he is more interested in having a vibrant community discussing a wide range of topics. The occasional PowerCranks thread fits right in.
I simply asked for first hand experience not third person sarcasm. (the post was not if anyone has heard of them) I’m not trying to ignite a debate, rather use the forum for what it’s intended to be-a place of communication between individuals with common interests. These sarcastic replies from people who are not actually using them are simply back round noise. I received private messages from PC users who have intelligent things to say but did not want to post them because of the immaturity of many of the participants on this forum. Many on this board sound like a bunch of whining teenagers, or they all overtraining and irritable. Time for a rest.

Including the two messages you’ve posted to this thread, all of your ST messages together now total four. It’s one thing to ask a question that could easily have been answered by using the search function that is available at the top of the page and put there for a reason; it’s stupid, but that’s not unusual for someone new to ST. It’s quite another to compound that stupidity by getting huffy. That isn’t a characteristic of newness to ST; I’m guessing it’s a characteristic of you.

LOL. go to almost any other tri or cycling forum and see what happens when someone asks about PowerCranks. Soon there is this howl of indignation telling them to go to ST because they don’t want to turn their forum into a PowerCranks forum. Then, probably those same people, when that person or someone else comes here and asks a question gives them a bunch of BS and calls them stupid for simply asking a question. Guess whose character is showing!

I suspect cycling forums and ST are all tired about “hearing” … if thats what we call it … about powercranks. We always get the same tired anecdotes but no substance. Proof of claims always seems to be unobtainable for some reason or another … strange when the claims are so profound!
Tridoc … if you want to try PCs, no one is stopping you. It might be worth your while to look at some of the prior posts to get a flavor for why people get so frustrated when the topic is brought up. If you believe what Frank has posted on his site, you would think everyone would be using them wouldn’t you?? Next time you go for a solo or group ride look to see how many people are riding PCs … I suspect you will have the same experience as myself … virtually never! If the pedal stroke is so ideal, why wouldn’t people also race with them … never seen by me. ![]()

Okay. Hmmm. The guy who’s posted about half of all those PC posts? That’s pretty revealing behavior.

You might note that what Tridoc was actually asking for were anecdotes. You might refer to them as the “same tired anecdotes” but that was actually what he asked for. It is pretty much all that anyone here can offer when someone asks a question about any product, their own experience, be it good or bad. The problem is when someone actually tries to give same about PowerCranks, people like yourself come here and ask them where the proof is that what they experienced is due to the PowerCranks. He didn’t ask for proof, he asked for personal experience. If 90% if the responses are positive he might draw something from that, just as he might if 90% were negative. Whatever, the case each reader should be able to draw their own conclusions, don’t you think?
Luckily, the forum allows for personal messages such that TriDoc seemingly got the information that he asked for without needing to resort to wasting hours and hours trying to separate the wheat from the chaff after performing a search. Unfortunately, because of the efforts of yourself and others, those who lurk here don’t know what information he received. This stifling of replies will probably result in more PC threads in the future, rather than fewer. That is fine with me.
I think it’s interestig post.
I’m quite new in ST, and I saw many posts about the PC’s.
I made some searches and I came to the conclusion that I wasted so much time to find the right informations, because so many people are giving non-constructive comments. On top of it, if you don’t wanna hear about PC’s, don’t open the post, and that’s it !
That product intrigues me. It’s a bit pricey … We have a client who’s using it, and he likes it. There are no miracles, to be good in sport, you must train, and train hard. There is no way to get performance without training. I don’t know why some must reply so agressively, but I guess it’s a matter of culture and education. Maybe one day I will be used to it.
I’ll put it to you this way, i am having trouble paying my bills but I am still trying to figure out a way to get a set of powercranks. I think they work great for cycling even though my ART guy had to work overtime on my hips at first but the thing I liked most about them was that they “enhanced” my running. I use enhanced in quotations because they weren’t a substitute for running but running faster just felt like I was using less effort. Hope this helps.
for petes sake…what is the problem,…when i joined this site, i thought it was a place to ask questions and get
good supportive, informative and helpful info…not all this elitist nonsense…i’m outta here, don’t need this negative crap.
