Hi, my mate has been going on about this new bracelet he has called Power Balance. A hologram in it so called messes with the bodies frequency to make a person stronger and more stable.
Surely this has to be a load of rubbish. I can’t believe its true, instead a cleaver marketing idea to get rich. I hear NBA players etc on getting in on the marketing action. Does any one know of a good link with information on dis- proving this, as I need some ammo for my argument.
I’m with you in that it’s a load of BS. A little fun fact, I come from a long background in baseball and a lot of players wear something similar, necklaces with titanium in them that are supposed to improve circulation and reduce stress. You see a ton of players in the MLB wearing them and they all swear by it. Though I think the real reason is that it’s more of a superstitious thing, as baseball is steeped in ritual due to the nature of the game.
At my biggest inline speed skating event of the year a guy was selling them. Every top pro from the Americas bought one, so I bought one too. I don’t really believe in it, but if I got dropped without it I would have always wondered if it was the dumb magic bracelet.
Coincidentally, whenever I don’t wear it on the bike my 5 sec and peak sprint power is lower.
Call it a scam…i sure did/do…but I also still wear it
Sorry, as an electrical engineer (with a focus in signal processing) that just sounds hilarious.
The effects aren’t just made up, the “scientific reason” for the effects is made up. Just so you all know, you can’t embed a “frequency”, because it’s not a tangible thing; it’s an inverse relation of the oscillation period. Anyways… yeah, fake.
a hologram that interacts with the frequency of your body… And this amazing feat has been seen/tested/shown by nobody accept by the guys who choose to make it into a bracelet which they sell for probably over 600% of the actual production value.
It’s probably more like 500%. I think 600% is actually zipp’s markup on their wheels and carbon cranks.
Whether it is placebo or not, I’m stronger with it than without it.
The night I bought it I felt like a real sucker. To prove that the thing didn’t work I went to the gym in the hotel. Without wearing the band I found the maximum amount of weight on the bench press machine that I couldn’t budge. I put the band on and lifted it halfway. I told myself that it was crap and I was just trying harder, so I threw the band across the room and got back on the bench. I pushed with everything I had an couldn’t move it. I figured I tired myself out lifting it the last time, so I’d put the band on and try it again. I pushed the weight halfway up again.
I wasn’t wearing the bracelet for a couple months and then I randomly wore it to work one day. I forgot I had it on and went for a ride. I was usually putting out low 1200s for my peak power. That night I hit 1313. It wasn’t until after I got that number that I realized I had the band on. With the bracelet high 1250-1300 watts is a peak for my sprints. When I don’t wear it, 1175-1225 is more like it.
I dont own one but I have a buddy that does own one. We were hanging out one night and he was like “try this…now put on the band and try again” it seemed to work, but how are you supposed to tell if its just sort of a mental thing?
he was trying to push me over, then id put on the power balance bracelet and he couldnt push me over…
I think its just a piece of mylar inside it (think a piece of a space balnket).
I watched the opening day game in Boston, I noticed a few players wearing these and The Q Magnet necklace. I personally wear the Trion=Z Bracelet. I don’t go a day with out it.
If I do not wear it, I get back pain and balance is off. I didn’t believe it was the magnets at first, but I’m a believer in the Trion=Z.
lol, but its true though. triathletes are so caught up in the spend to get faster gimmick, many dont look at the data before picking choices.
if tom a. AC, jordan rapp, or jonnyo isnt doing it, its probably not that great. at the very least, these guys are super anal retentive when it comes to their gear and dont get caught up in the placebo effect.
These guys had a booth at the Oceanside expo- http://www.efxusa.com/technology
Someone working the booth asked me to walk over and give it a try.
She asked me to stand on 1 foot and put my arms straight out. Then she pushed until I tipped over.
Then she put some shiny sticker thing inside my shirt. Same drill. It seemed as if she had to try harder to get me to budge.
They were selling a bracelet, necklace or stickers for about $30.00.
I decided to pass and until I saw this thread, I had forgotten about them.
I am curious to hear some of the real facts on the positive and negative side about this.
