I think Slowman said you can but you need to use Firefox. I haven’t tried yet.
Yes, it works from Firefox. Just switch to the advanced editor if you are in the basic editor mode. It does NOT work with Safari.
Martin, the picture icon works for me. Do you have an extra pop-up blocker installed or something? It should pop up a little window that lets you type in the url of the picture. The link button works the same way. Type in what you want the title/name of the url to be, highlight it, then click the link button and paste in the url.
Testing: I’m on a mac and just downloaded Firefox and will give it a shot.

I can post them in FF…but the images are little broken image icons…I can see them in Safari…
Personally, I prefer Camino to Firefox. Same darn near everything, but a bit “More Mac.” Assuming you see a picture in this post, Camino works just fine.
I found this picture by browsing tinypic, which was a fairly odd experience.
