Posties no more in 05'?

US Postal will stop sponsoring their cycling team at the end of this season, according to the American consumer organization PostalWatch. It seems that
Berry Floor will take over the main sponsorship next year. They indicated that will continue
with the present team structure. (VRT-TT) - more later -

No more Posties. No more ONCE. Somehow it just isn’t going to seem the same.

Great…now the US Postal service can spend $50 million on worthless advertising…What’s PostalWatch going to say then?

Hmmmm. . .No more Faema. . .No more Gan. . .No more Gitane. . .No more Peugot. . .The world of cycling sponsorships is ever changing. For Once, Kelme and Mapei to stay around as long as they did was highly unusual. I expect Kelme will probably give up the ghost totally after this year. Anyone know what the next longest-lived team in the pro peleton is after Kelme? (keep it at the top couple of levels here. I know there are some small-budget teams that have been around for what seems like eons)

My bets are on CSC, Fassa Bortolo, and Quick Step to continue to solidify as the next long-lived super teams. Telekom may have reset its clock a bit with the timely switch to T-Mobile.

The rotation of sponsors in the cycling peleton is no different than the auto sponsorships in this country. . .or even stadium ownership. With all those dotcom owners going belly up in the last couple of years, stadiums have been hanging new signs at the rapid rate.

I know you’ve been around a while cg. “The times, they are a’changin. . .”

If that’s true, do I get my 10 bucks back?

I would say Rabobank has been around for quite a while. Also Lotto(now Lotto Domo) has been around for some time. Saeco would be the other one.
