Posterior tibial tendon tear surgery or not?

I have a stage 2 posterior tendon tear. Got 3 opinions all say surgery basically the only option because the tendon is already stretched out and will most likely tear again if in fact it does heal. Guess it is in a low blood flow area so chances of it healing are slim. Has anyone had the tendon transfer surgery? Has anyone opted not to have surgery and got better? If so, what did you do?
Thanks,

PTTD does not usually get better, unfortunately. The primary repair with flexor hallucis longus tendon transfer to augment strength is a good option. I’m assuming you have been in orthotics for some time now, had PT, etc.
