Post long ride foot problems

I did the DALMAC Quad century this past weekend, had a great time great weather, great folks, wonderful scenery and by far the most miles and most elevation I have ever cycled in a weekend, ever! Anyway, when I got off my bike on Sunday I noticed that the toenail on my left big toe had turned black. Like it had been hit with a hammer. Since then I have been noticing “tingling” in the same foot. Any of you smart medical types have any ideas what I might have done to myself? I don’t recall any trauma that might have caused this. I did get pretty dehydrated once or twice over the weekend, and now I seem to be retaining about an extra 9 lbs of fluid (about 3% of my normal body weight).

Thanks in advance,

Vince

Vince, check your shoe size/saddle height. Then check your cleat adjustment. This signs you are dfescribing tell me your shoes are too big… Hope this helps

Your toe is probably banging into the end. Either the shoes are too small or it’s is the pedalling style.

BTW unless you weight 300#, that 9# is a lot more than 3% of your body weight.
