Post-Ironman Dieting?

Following up on the post-Ironman recovery thread, what about the post-Ironman diet? I figure I’m doing so little physically it’s ok. And I’m eating tons of vegetables so I figure the nutrients have gotta do me some good. I haven’t been hungry or experiencing any undue fatigue. I ate plenty of carbs in the first week after the race.

Those super-skinny triathletes at IMLP did a number on my head…

I haven’t done a whole lot of training since LP (first IM). Unfortuneately, my house was never kept up, and so it looked somewhat abandoned. So I spent the first weekend post-IM cleaning up and doing yard work. This was enough exercise for me. I haven’t really been watching what I have been eating. I have treated myself to a few things, mainly ice-cream which I had been off for several months. But I noticed this morning that all the weight I lost during the race is now back on. D’oh.

My training volume is down, so now I am just trying to adjust my eating habits a bit. I want to run a marathon in October, so I am hoping that my legs will come back soon, and that by running more volume I can lose some of the weight that I have gained. Bottom line, you have to constantly watch it.
