Post-Bike Run HR

Did a ride that was fairly long/steady effort for me, then a short run, and noticed the HR during run was probably 10 beats higher than standalone run on fresh legs with same perceived effort. A couple questions:

-is this normal, or will the diff be less as my fitness comes up?
-if elevated is normal, how do you plan run HR targets for longer TRIs, or is experience the only answer?

how long? If you’re talking IM, other things, namely nutrition likely have more to do with the success of your run.

If you’re talking less than a marathon, I think the best info you can get is to have a good idea of your run lactic threshold heart rate. You should be able to run at that HR for about an hour. If your run will be longer than an hour, you’ll have to go at a lower HR–the more over an hour, the lower.
