Position Advice....forward allows more drop?

Does this sound correct to you?

If I move my position forward (using the seat and stem)…I can lower the aerobars, as this will allow the torso to femur angle to remain near the same. Does moving forward allow you to go lower, in general? Over the past few months I’ve lowered my position from about a 10cm drop (which was a tad high and on a bike I couldn’t get more forward then about straight over the bb) to a 20.5cm drop (which feels fairly compfy as today was the first day this low) and 5cm in front of the bb. I’ve been riding 5cm in front of the bb for about 1 year now. My knees now come up to level with the elbow pads during the pedal stroke. This is on a Zipp 2001 so I get lots of adjustability and the bike handles very well at this angle since I been riding Zipps for years.

I’ll try and post a pic or two later this evening when my wife gets home from shopping and can take a good picuture.

.

yes- exactly right. Tha’s exactly what this little cartoon by Slowman is intended to depict:

Slowman’s cartoons suck. They aren’t even funny.

Thanks…works for me.

Now I’ll need to study the pics my wife takes this evening and see where the angle ended up.

I’ve been at this for 15 years and I’m experimenting again!!

Don’t the feet have to move back a tad when you do that?

No, the feet are the point of rotation.

If you go to Tom D’s web site and look at the bike fit section it shows the 90’ angle from the upper leg to the torso. I always wondered which is correct.

Tom? Slowman?

Aloha,
