My family & I will be visiting Portland & Arch Cape (Aug 17-22) & since it falls smack in the middle of my prep for a 15km race in September (https://www.swimalligatorlight.com/), I’d prefer to keep any missed training days to a minimum.
As such, if you have any feedback/recommendations, I’d greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

Here’s two that I know about…the Poet’s beach one is brand new in a sense but free while the other requires a parking fee and is in Vancouver.
.
As for open water swims, look up the River Huggers, a local group that swim in the willamette daily near downtown. Other open water swim options are Henry Hagg lake, and the Clackamas Cove.
For masters, I swim with Oregon reign out in Gresham, even though I live in Portland. It’s a great team and they have oodles of practices (at least one every day, and mon through thurs there are two a day). Pm me if you’d like to come or have a separate workout. I also have opinions on pools.

Fantastic, thanks - much appreciated. I’m going to do a really big Mon >> Thurs that week, so I’m not overly concerned w/ how much/what I get in, I just don’t want to be out of the water on consecutive days.
I’ll definitely ping you though, thanks!
FYI There is active construction happening at Clackamas Cove and the normal water entry point is no longer available. It appears you could enter near the boathouse, which is a bit of a walk from the parking area. My first choice would be to drive out to Hagg Lake. Also, as previously mentioned I see people swimming in the Willamette near the Hawthorne Bridge.
