Portable compressor recommendation?

I’ve had the Bontraeger compressor for a while and really like it, however mine is falling apart after only a few months (air hose leaks beyond easy repair). It’s good for topping off before a race and just keeping in the car for excursions.
Can anyone recommend a good portable compressor to replace it? Sears, Schwinn, etc. etc. have a number of models that seem to vary greatly in quality from what I have read.

If you want one that is not going to break, try Viair.

I just buy the cheap ones at the local hardware store. They usually last about 2-3 years, but I also pay less that $20. Part of the problem is that most compressors are rated to lower pressures than bike tires normally need. So each time you fill your tires, you are going up to their limits even if only for a few seconds.

I bought this 2 years ago at the auto parts store. 300 psi. I cut off the air head that came with it and installed a crack pipe using a small hose clamp. Works like a charm and I can fill my disc wheels without bothering someone to lend a hand.

Get this … it cost $12.
