seems to me that they kind of went out of the way to help you …“just show up”…and then you bash them in public? Wow, I like the guys at HFP and have known them for a really long time, so maybe I am not the one to comment, but maybe you should give them a bit more than 48 hours? or if you KNOW they aren’t top-rate with email, look for anouther route? or at least not post that they have “poor customer service” after they let you transfer race fees and just show up at a race to race. JMO
I’m an HFP sponsored athlete but I understand a bit of your frustration that things don’t get taken care of as quickly as you like BUT do you realize how hard Scott works during the season? Pretty damn hard, I believe. I’d be confident that it will be taken care of by the time it matters. You may need to bug him again, but as I said, he is quite busy at this time of year. Why is he so busy? Putting on races nearly every week from April through September so guys like us can have fun with things like AG series awards.
I have done quite a few HFP races without any problems.
I’ve had a similar experience. Great customer service face-to-face, poor email (read: none) response. I got second in AG, but they told me I got first at the race…No big deal so I didn’t push it, but I still never received a reply as their auto-reply email promised.
I had a mix up last year and Scott took care of it. I e-mailed him and put my mobile phone number on the e-mail. He called the next day. Like was mentioned before, I think those guys are spread pretty thin with the number of races they put on, but give them a chance to get back with you, they will fix it.
Well, I am still waiting on my Halifax refund. 3 emails later - not even a reply.
You could probably use a bashing in public!
Also remember that email isn’t ALWAYS reliable…We get tons of calls from people who’ve said they’ve emailed us, but we didn’t recieve it.
I’m sure Scott is swamped…I know for us, I get about 300 emails a day. Trying to stay on top of this, and get everything else done is difficult. Just like us, I’m sure HFP doesn’t have a fulltime secretary to answer emails all day. I’d love to have that:)
Maybe you should check some of the other responses after yours. I praised them where praise was due. More than one person reiterated that they are unreliable with email reponses, and their website only allows email access to them. I was looking to see if this was an anomaly or a regular occurrence. Further, what I said has nothing to do with their ON SITE customer service or the quality of the event they produce for a reasonable race fee.
Maybe you should move on.
Brian -
You’re right…I should move on but I am too petty to do so. In your original post, the one you made before your edit to make you look like not such a tool (and the title that is in most people’s responses to you), you stated “Poor HFP Customer Service…” that’s all I was commenting on. Don’t bash someone that has done a pile for the sport (apparently in your homestate if you are racing the series) without giving them at least a decent chance to respond to you. Nor did I comment on anything else you purported in your post - only if email isn’t working (which you said it wasn’t after a brief 48 hours) to try another route.
It looks like in hindsight, from your later post, like they got back to you in just about 48 hours, and you knew going into it that those guys are stretched way thin all season long and take forever (or never) to get back to you via email; so that doesn’t seem too bad to me. I wasn’t being pissy in my original post, just observant; now I’m pissy. “Move on”, Christ dude is this 5th grade? I suppose at least you didn’t want to meet me out back behind the woodshed like you do with cjt.

“Approaching 48hrs later, I have yet to even…”
48hrs being the key.
race management outfits are typically flooded with messages of all types from just about everyone…every day.
48 hours on a post race item typically is not a crisis timetable. understood that you have a concern…but unless you’ve been told directly that your issue is not important, don’t assume so by that timeline. relax a bit.
HFP is a standup outfit and IMHO does not deserve the public bashing that you have thrown out on the table.
I am amazed that people think email is a reliable method of communication these days.
why I’m bothering to respond here is probably beyond me but…dude, where are you getting these things you are putting in my mouth?
Contrary to your opinion, slowtwitch is a large group of dedicated triathletes.
yeah, about 14k of them and I’ve been on here since the days when it was an email and giant strings of threads not the pretty little picture we have here now (thank you Dan and current thanks to jordan and whoever else is busily working at it). Where in the world did I say anything about ST or its inhabitants? And lastly (maybe) public criticism is likely not the greatest means of achieving change if you actually care about the change.
peace bro
Dude you are such an idiot…you replied to a post that wasn’t even addressed to you. You are the one who learns to need how to speak in a civil manner.
