I’m staying near the airport but have a rental car. Any recommendations would be appreciated!
The YMCA on Interational Drive or better still drive the 35 minutes to Clermont and go to the beautifull outside pool at the National Training Center, great riding and running in Clermont too.
I second the YMCA on I-Drive. It was the only decent pool I found with good hours when I was down there a couple months ago.
$10 a day and you could go back multiple times on that daily pass. You could even use the rest of facility if you wanted.
x3 on the Y on international, also if you are not locked in to staying at the airport, there is an Embassy Suites right next to the Y (2 min walking) which makes early am swims a bit easier plus Embassy is always good on the breakfast to recover…
How close in the YMCA on International to anything in Disney?
If your by chance doing the 70.3 and staying in Disney (just a guess), you’d still want to go the NTC. It’s not that far from Disney.
X2 or X3 on the Y on International Drive. It is a nice facility. I have also swam at the NTC in Clermont, it is a very nice option although a little bit of a drive from the airport, really nice track there though. Another option if you are looking for open water is www.luckyslakeswim.com. It is right behind Universal Studios.

No, we are just taking the kids to visit the Mouse and all his friends, and I would like to try to get at least one swim in during the week that we are going to be “prisoners of Disney”. The Disney pools are built for playing, not swimming, so I’m just lookin for options for actually swimming.
This is no a pool but if you are interested in an Open Water swim check this out…

The training center pool in Clermont is close to Disney and it is a great pool. The Y is nice but depending on the time of day you can get a lot of swim teams in for practice. There is a 24 hour fitness in downtown Orlando and there is also a downtown Y but again will be a drive from where you are at by the airport.
Open water swim at Lucky’s is also a great option.
Junior Nationals are at the Orlando YMCA facilitiy March 17-21.
