Looking back in the archives of the race it seems that a certain member of the "Far North " squad was handed a time penalty for excessive spillage in T2. He was subsequently seen being carried away by the medic team, strapped to a gurney, kicking and screaming he was being attacked by mutant leprechauns and menehuene with Kiwi accents.
No sorry mate you didn’t finish the run if my memory serves me correctly. You will have to enter next year’s race! The '08 race did not take place as we were down south battling 45kt winds in Cook Strait in my sailboat. Lot more fun!
I can confirm the pool at the Narita Hilton. 25m with 4 lanes. Get there before 9am and use the night entrance (clearly marked) and they don’t charge you.
Out the back of the hotels are some great roads and trails that wind through the rice fields and eventually end up beside a river. You can run on the bank of this river heading North away from the airport for approx 10-12kms (probably too far for you). Weather in Japan now starting to warm up but still low to mid teens. I’m in Osaka now and just heading out for a run.
