Talk about comeuppance.
I have to admit that I am a bit skeptical about that survey result. My work puts me in touch with many of the, um, more liberal types. And, on the rare occasion that this even comes up, almost all of them vote against impeachment. They mention how divisive it was when we went through the Clinton one.
If you look at the survey, 80% of independents were in favor of beginning impeachment proceedings, higher than the percentage of Dems.
I’d rather not go through the impeachment nonsense again. I do however think its time for the senior members of the Republican Party to pay a visit to the White House and ask for a resignation . So much quicker cleaner and better.
I think fairly few people really want an impeachment, and instead, those numbers probably reflect a general desire to have a new person in the office. I don’t think 45% of Americans really want the entire impeachment process.
No sense in tar and feathering a guy that is leaving town , I don’t think its anywhere close to that percentage . Pure shock value poll .
Heli.
That poll is ridiculous and completely unbelievable.
That means there are 55% who don’t want Bush impeached.
Talk about a fantasy.
Yes, he’s on his way out of town, but he could catch a few houses on fire on his way out of town.
YEAH CASEY!
How are you? How is the trip? Even though you and I are on the exact opposite side of most issues your voice of reason is sadly missed here.
Catch us up on the trip if you feel like it!
The kicker is " 45% of the group polled It was the fox news gang at a lunch break ".
Hell , 45% are good numbers for them.
My only question is why don’t the Democrats just start pushing for it? Oh yeah it’s because they see a benefit in keeping him in office.
“If you look at the survey, 80% of independents were in favor of beginning impeachment proceedings, higher than the percentage of Dems.”
I’m not sure where you’re finding that information. According to the polling group’s website (http://americanresearchgroup.com/), just 50% of independents favor it , with 20% undecided. That’s rather high, but well short of 80%.
What would he be impeached for?
I guess you need to ask those who responded “yes.” Probably some of those who favor it will chime in here, though. I didn’t say anything about my own views on the subject, one way or the other.
Wasn’t really picking on you. I just clicked your name for the general question.
Whoops. Must have been looking at the Independent’s “disapprove” rating.
most of the folks who would like to see Bush/Cheney impeached would like so because they don’t like his policies and decisions…
and because even if (when) we begin to withdraw troops from Iraq, it will be a logistic nightmare without the Commander-in-chief on board, and it still looks like Bush is not going to get on board …
but because one does not like a President’s decisions - that is not a valid reason for impeachment.
Some suitable reasons would be:
He lied about WMD in order to lead us into war
NSA Warrentless Wiretapping
Hurricane Katrina - Gross Negligence
Stolen Election - 2000
via Policy, promoted use of torture
maybe a few more . . .
okay, I’m calling BS on this one…
He lied about WMD in order to lead us into war
NOTE: The house and senate had access to the same data and could have developed their own conclusions about the data but did not and voted for the war. Never mind the 14 UN resolutions requiring Iraq to 'provide proof that they had disarmed"
NSA Warrentless Wiretapping
NOTE: The courts have already ruled on this one, and the NSA’s course of action was upheld
Hurricane Katrina - Gross Negligence
NOTE: Oh and some how he is singularly responsible for the failure of several hundred thousand people to be responsible for their own lives and get the hell out of dodge in advance of the storm? Funny how everywhere but New Orleans has managed quite well with the assistance brought by FEMA and the rest of the federal government.
Stolen Election - 2000
NOTE: Nearly 200 newspapers and outlets got together and ran the numbers every way possible and Gore lost in every way possible. Get over it. Besides you can’t impeach a guy for something that might have transpired prior to his taking office.
via Policy, promoted use of torture
NOTE: Considering these Islamo whack jobs blow up their own kids for fun and profit I don’t believe this is a crime, but seeing Rosie’s fat mug from the View in the news is a crime
maybe a few more . . .
NOTE: Yep.
Signing McCain Feingold,
The Farm Bail Out Bill,
Prescription Drug Act,
No Child Left behind,
Gross miss-management of post war IRAQ
Failure to act constitutionaly on the Border Crisis
Most of the above as well as the rest of his spending programs are costing us trillions if you look 10-20 years down the road and for that his Ultimate Crime:
Spending like a drunken Sailor (this in and of itself is not a crime)
But giving a drunken Sailor is a bad name is!
Wow, your rights to vote should be revoked if you believe any of that. Do you listen to PBR or/and Air America?
I don’t like Bush per say, and I think he’s a disappointment but the things that you listed really do make you look way out in left field, I mean way out there, and out of touch with reality. You and Michael Moore would get along real well.
“Do you listen to PBR or/and Air America?”
Personally, I usually drink my PBR on crappy beer night downtown.
On the rest of your stuff, I’m not going to defend lorenzo. I think trisporter contradicted him on most stuff. I do have a couple of questions for you on your statements:
“Don’t forget, the UN voted force to be used in Iraq.” I don’t think that ever happened. Bush promised to get a vote but decided not to when it was clear he was going to lose at the UN.
“LOL, I say-- torture away. I like many Americans lost family on 9/11. If putting the grind on some slimy scumbag that was captured can save just one American, Brit, German etc, I’m all for it. It’s not like these guys will treat our soldiers that may be captured worse. Their intent isn’t to capture and hold. It’s to capture and kill, every time so far.”
The question here is if you can guarantee that the folks you want to torture were actually involved in anything nefarious against the U.S. or our allies. The majority of prisoners at that one prison were released without ever being charged. Many had been rounded up en masse and had never done anything against us. After their experience do you think they are more or less likely to cooperate or plot against us? How about their families? Does losing a loved one on 9/11 allow us to abandon our morals when dealing with others who may or may not be our enemies? That’s the problem when we use terms like “they” did such and such to us. You better be specific about who “they” are or you run the risk of descending into a moral abyss.
That poll is ridiculous and completely unbelievable. That means there are 55% who don't want Bush impeached.
LOL…ZZZZZZZZING!
