Just finished a 6 hour ride along on the night shift. Very interesting career. To all those in law enforcement, thank you, you deserve more credit than you get.
Agreed. My brother-in-law is a detective in Toronto and the stuff he has seen…these guys see stuff most of us can’t even imagine…nor would want to.

I was on a ride along with my Dad when I was 16. He worked in LE for 17 years.
He had to respond to a domestic disturbance at a house in a suburb a few miles from the police station. Once we pulled up to the house, he told me sit tight and don’t leave the car. He then added, “There’s a gun in the glove compartment…just in case.” As he left the car, I was like, “Where are you going?”
I used to dislike cops until I did a ride-along one 5 years ago.
Its a tough job and I also developed a new-found respect for what they do every day.
I just did my fifth ride along (I have to do a few for my application to the police academy) and it was one of the more interesting ones I’ve done. We served warrants that have been on the books for a few months and needed to be taken care of.
I didn’t think I’d really like it when I did my first one to see if it’d be a career I’d consider, but I liked it a lot and can’t wait to start in January (tentatively).
My brother too is a detective in Toronto and he does CP. I don’t even ask.
What’s CP?
My ride along was only 20 minutes or so.
I did get 6 hours in a drunk tank though…
Child Porn. Pretty rough stuff as with limited resources, they only go after the bad ones. And it’s a legal courtroom nightmare.
