Just bought the Polar RS100, and conducted a run TT yesterday. Anyone who has this HRM, can you help me out? I can’t get HR beats for the laps. It’s giving me HR%, and I don’t want that, since the Max HR I thikn we’re based on age, not actual HR readings.
Again, I can’t get average HR for the laps, it’s only giving me % of Max HR readings, not the actual HR.
Help please…I’ve got my bike test tomorrow, and have to clear the computer.
Hmmm … nope. I recently sold my RS200SD, so I can’t check, but I would check one more thing. Since you can change the display of the watch, check how you have it displayed, not just recorded.
On my RS200, when I’m reviewing a workout file, when I look at the HR info for a particular lap it alternates automatically between actual HR and % every 2 seconds or so. And looking at the RS100 manual, page 21, it appears that the RS100 does the same thing. Give it a couple of seconds to see if it flips over automatically.
Edit: Hmmm… I guess p. 21 refers to the average for the whole workout, not the lap.
Ariel, thats the problem…it doesn’t alternate when that screen comes up. I think I might break down and just get a Garmin 305 (some used and not much more expensive on ebay).
Sure, the Garmin makes sense if its bulkiness doesn’t bother you. It would be super cool to have all that downloadable nav data and the altitude info in particular. It’s just a little more info than I want when I’m running. I got my RS200 from nashbar with a 20% off coupon (without the speed/distance footpod), so it was pretty cheap.
The one thing that BUGS me about the Polar is how when you stop the timer, you can’t see the latest time – it takes you to that “standby” screen. Bad user experience for track workouts, when you want to hit the stop button and THEN be able to look at your time. The HR functions are more sophisticated than my old Timex HRM, but sometimes I miss that old thing.
mjpwoo - have you tried pushing the lower left and right buttons at the same time - if I am not mistaken, this should toggle the display between the % HR and raw number HR - hope this helps -
