Polar RCX5 Watch losing heart rate signal

Hi,

My wife has the Polar RC5X watch and heart rate monitor strap she is using on the bicycle trainer indoors. The heart rate seems to stop reading the signal in the middle of her ride. It seems to be when she sits up a little ways further back from the watch that is strapped to her handle bar. We tried several batteries on the strap but it did not help.
I do not think anything is interfering in the signal, it is just not that strong.

Is there any additional settings to check or do you think it is a bad strap or the watch unit?

thanks, as I continue to search the forum…

Rob

Try a hard re boot!

Hi,

Will you be more specific? Reboot on the wife or the Polar?

Seriously do you mean the reset where you hold the buttons down.

Also, I forgot to mention we replaced the watch battery once as well.

Thanks, Rob

Yes try the hard re-boot while outside and it should get all the GPS signals again.

Which strap is she using? the Hybrid or just a regular coded one?

Have you tried any of the EKG gel? Buh Bump, etc?

I find that I can lose connection either early in a ride/run when I am not sweating too much, or even in the middle if it’s cold.

What kind of batteries are you using? I know Polar only recommends Sony and maybe Panasonic batteries.

sorry should get hr back!!
