For those of you using the polar devices with infrared upload functions to a computer, have you managed to get it to work with any brand of IrDA USB adaptor other than the Polar-branded one?
Mine works fine with the IR on my Toshiba M400…that help?
I got one from Amazon.com. It was a lot less than the Polar. It was also listed as a accessory for sale if you bought a polar. Go to Amazon and search for polar HR monitors and it will come up. I think it was a Star Tech or something and it says it was ROHS compliant.
Works great with my 725.
says it was ROHS compliant.
So feel free to ship it to Europe!
Yes. (That’s a link if it doesn’t show up as one in your browser…)
I uses the built in Irda port on my laptop, but have found that I need to be in a room that doesn’t have a lot of direct sunlight or have other infra-red devices being used for it to connect and work properly.
It depends on which Polar unit you have. I had to buy a usb/IR device for my CS600, since my home laptop doesn’t have na IR port (my work one does - unit works fine with both). Now what you have to realize is certain units require the Polar unit, and that is a proprietary IR interface (it does not conform to IR 2.x standards) - and those puppies are pricey. So make sure you have the correct interface for your unit.
Other than that, it is usually just a line of sight issue - took me a try or two to get it lined up and recongizeing the first time I set it up. I alos found one setting on the polar software worked a lot better than the other - would have to check again and see what that is.
My laptop has one built in, so I would imagine it would work with any brand.
