Polar HRM--repair or replace?

My heart rate monitor conked out just I crossed the finish line this weekend. It’s a Polar S210, about 6 years old. Had been working fine, but when I pressed “stop” at the end of the race it was unresponsive. Later, the screen went blank and I thought it was dead and figured must be the battery. Then the next morning the alarm, still set to “get up for the race” time went off—the screen was back on but still none of the buttons worked.
Anyone else had this problem? For what it’s worth, I had the battery replaced by a non-Polar guy a while ago, but it’s worked fine until now. Fixable, or time for new one? wvarta?

Send it in to www.polarservicecenter.com (Creative Health Products). They will either replace the battery and ensure that it is sealed properly, or tell you that it is not repairable. If it isn’t repairable, they will give you ‘trade in’ pricing on a new HRM. Fantastic customer service there.
