Polar HR worth getting cycling units?

So I’m in the market for a new HR monitor and accessories.
Quick background. I previously had a Nike triax because I’m a mac user and at the time Polar didn’t support a mac.
I don’t feel the need to track my swim distances with GPS. I live in a urban area so I don’t know how accurate GPS is.
I dabble with pace on my runs but use HR primarily for bike -can’t afford a power meter.
And I used to buy cheap bike computers and they always turned to crap and would never work very well.

Is it worth buying a Polar with cycling capabilities? Or should I just buy a good HRM with foot pod and buy another cycling computer?
Thoughts? I was prepared to spend $3-$400 but I’m not sure that’s going to get me very far.

Polar is only supporting MAC with the use of the DATALINK and that is only working with the new CS500 that downloads to www.polarpersonaltrainer.com Now the footpod unit. You could go with a RS300sd or RS300g1, and go to the same website and in 30secs or so manually enter your run data to your training calendar. The RS800cx will work with the S3 pod, and WIND bike speed sensors but will download to Protrainer 5,none MAC and not to the DOT COM

wvarta,
Would you know if there is any news in the Polar pipeline that they will be coming out with a bicycle computer that will download into Protrainer 5 but with the CS500 form factor. I find the Cs600 and Cs600x rock solid but the bigger display size and rocker switch of the Cs500 looks amazing. Though having it being able to work with my 9 years of data in Protrainer 5 is a must. Just wondering if you heard anything.

Oh ya and you can up load the data from the Rs800cx using the IRDA to the Dot Com unlike what you mentioned in the post.

Thanks Advance

Peace
