Polar help!

I just did a lactate threshold test for the run. I did the 30 min. TT and hit the lap button @10 minutes. The results don’t make much sense to me.

Entire 30 min: 170 max, 159 avg

1st 10 min: avg 150, end of lap 164

last 20 min: avg 163, end of lap 164

I took frequent looks at my hr during the test and the highest I saw was 159 in the last 4 minutes and at the end. In the 1st 10 minutes it got up to about 152. During the last 20 minutes, it gradually creeped up to 159. I would guess I averaged 155-157 the last 20.

I don’t understand the discrepancy between the numbers I saw while running and the numbers my watch says now.

Needless to say, I’m damn frustrated right now. I hate the idea that I went through that pain for nothing.

Any ideas? Anyone else had this problem with polar? I used a Polar S120.

I’ll probably post this @ Gordo’s site as well as it’s heavy on training/testing issues.

You had the monitor set to display your average heart rate for the workout.

That’s why it reacted so sluggishly.

It’s one of the bottom buttons to switch fromcurrent heart rate to average heart rate for the workout.

I think you’re right. Thanks.
