Polar Footpod Question ~~ kinda dum

I got this Polar footpod thing when I bought the S625X off a guy. Light didn’t come on. Replaced the battery. Now the light shines green momentarily when you push the red thingy on top. Is the light supposed to stay green when you use it (mine doesn’t) or is it just an indicator of battery power & is supposed to not shine when you use it? Is it worth the trouble to figure out exactly what it’s supposed to do? I can’t find any decent manual anywhere, just Polar marketing stuff.

Thanks & apologies for dumnes.

It flashes green when it’s on. So push and hold until the green light comes on, release the red button, and you should see it flash every few seconds. To turn it off, push and hold the red button again, the light goes solid green for a moment, and then shuts down.

well whaddya know! never woulda figgered it out. thanks!

No problem. Do you know how to calibrate it?

e-mailed the s625x manual to you.

Jim

thank you, Jim. i guess the guy didn’t include the manual. no wonder it didn’t make any sense to me ~~ like i said, kinda dum. it’ll be nice to have the cadence and speed sensors put on the bike properly, and the footpod functioning on the running shoes, and see what happens. i tried turning on the altitude thingy but don’t like the scribbles it makes all over the graph when i swim. i have no idea when and where i’d ever use the altitude thing, so i just turned it off.

thanks again.

Welcome. BTW If you right click on the graph and select curve properties you can deselect any of the attributes you don’t want to see on the graph.

You must have some **LONG **arms!

yeah, the graph looks like somebody’s freaking the eff out on a lie detector test or dancing with a spider on crack or something. it must be calibrated to millimeters. now that i have the manual it should be easier. duh. i just kinda/sorta thought it would be akin to the S610i that im also using. wrong-o. i’m probably going to be all off on calibrating for the 650 wheels, too, but there’s charts in the manuals, so we’ll see. for an ocd tax litigator, this stuff is really really intimidating. it’s boy-stuff.

by golly … it disappeared! how did you know that?!?

Been using the s625x since Oct. Once you get used to it its kinda cool. One of the nice features in the software is being able to define your training zones, gives you a nice representation ( time in zone, % in zone etc ).

Also, its much easier to set your watch features from the software than it is from the watch itself.

BTW I have the speed and cadence sensor as well, works great, thinking about the Power kit as well but not entirely convinced yet.
