Polar 720i Question

My Polar 720i, which has worked faultlessly for the past year, started to mess me about this afternoon. It gives me my HR up until I start moving on the bike. It then just gives me the bike info (no settings changed since it worked properly).

What I need to know is whether this episode is indicating the battery in the chest-strap is going or the one in the watch. Ran after the bike for an hour and got HR the whole way. Any one have any experience of this?

Cheers.

You seem to have ruled out battery unless one is low and going out. The other thing maybe your strap may have been a bit loose for your position when you moved on the bike causing it to loose contact for that period of time.

Strap is fine, contact wise. As I mentioned, I’ve been using it for the past year and haven’t changed anything ie bike, position in the last week.

Anyone had to replace batteries in a polar? Which went first, the chest-strap or the watch?

i’ve been using polars for 6 years. i’ve never had to even get rid of a transmitter belt. but the watch does run out pretty fast especially if you train a lot. my 710i didn’t even last a year. mine started to give wrong HR and speed data.

Sounds like the battery in the strap is low. Ive had intermitent readings with a 710 and a 720 and a new strap seems to fix it.
