Pointless thread about my new bike

After 4 seasons of training and 4 olympic distance triathlons on a $500 mountain bike I am finally picking up my Trek 2300 tonight after work. The deal was (with my wife) as soon as we bought a house, go buy a bike. Well tonight’s the night. My family, friends, and co-workers don’t seem to understand the magnitude of this event. So I figured I’d tell you guys since you all truly understand. I’m sure this is how an expectant mother must feel. : ) I am giddy with anticipation. I CAN’T WAIT!!!

It’s supposed to be 18 degrees tomorrow but I guarantee I’ll be on my new bike for hours.

Happy Ridin’

Hey Tom H,

I saw the Trek 2300, it is an impressive bike. I really liked it.

A bike AND a a house? Wow, that’s huge. Congratulations on both. I know you’ll love the bike. Now all we need is some good weather!

Tom H., when I got my new bike a year or so ago, I was so excited, I brought it in to my office and showed my co-workers. Talk about not caring!!!

Enjoy, and wear lots of clothes!

Congratulations Tom. This is BIG!

I remember like it was yesterday when I brought my Kestrel KM40 home. I never have been so proud!

Mariage, big… Birth of my kids, Big… New Bike, BIG!!!

I think I am tearing up.

Congrats, Tom. After four seasons racing on a mountain bike, I think most would agree you’ve earned it.

When I got word that my P2k had arrived at my aparment at about noon one Wednesday three years ago, I left everything at my desk and rushed home immediately. Four hours later I was riding. I called in sick the next day.

Ahh, new bike euphoria. The result of requited bike lust.

“I gotta Trek 2300 for the wife. Excellent trade!”

Brett

congrats on the bike. I just pulled that same deal off with my wife a few months ago for “another” bike. I have also an older trek 2500, the sl aluminum series from 2000 or 2001, which I have been very happy with over years.

You will amazed at the difference, enjoy.

Interesting. My wife and I had the same deal. She wanted a new house, and she told me that I could get whatever kind of bike I wanted once she got her house. Well, we moved into the house in October – right around my birthday. So she let me get a new bike. Though she said I could get whatever I wanted, I knew what my limit was. So I opted for a Yaqui Manzanita. Awesome bike. I don’t hear much about the Manzanita – usually just the Mariola and the Carbo – but the Manzanita is an incredible bike for the price. Ves makes a very, very nice bicycle.

Nuff said, so I’ll say some more. Bikes rock. Bikes are fun. Bikes are sexy. Bikes are what make the world go around. There is nothing more to life than bikes. The world will someday end, but there will still be bikes. Dang, I really need a girlfriend.

-What is Sexy?

Congratulations Tom H. I know all about the excitement. You feel like a little kid again don’t you? I recently had a similar deal. My wife got a new minivan and I got a new QR Tiphoon. Interesting thought is I’ve spent more time and miles on my Tiphoon than I’ve spent in her van. But her van is really nice and comfortable but my new ride is sportier and sexier. Go figure. Some men sit at their computers looking at naked women and I look at bikes and read this awesome forum. Bike=Sexy=Woman=Bike? I must be warped. Anyway, enjoy the new ride and dress warm.
