Pogliaghi Values/History?

I have a chance to buy a 1980’s Pogliaghi. It is for my dad. The frame is in awesome shape. I looked at it today? One nic near the stem other than that perfect. All new 105 front /Ultegra rear components (I will switch them to campy when I get the chance). I have looked the brand up online, but have never seen one on the road. What do you know of it. What do you think it is worth? It has serial numbers that place it in the early 80’s. They are clearly visible. The price I have been told is 900. The shop owner will hold it for me till Monday. Is this a good buy?
Thanks in advance.

Not the best forum for advice on that particular bike. You can find basic information on classicrendezvous.com under Italy builders.

Pogliaghi is one of the classic Italian frames through the 1970’s. Later frames were mass produced with subcontractors, not their best work. While the bike you’re looking at may have new parts, it’s value would be better served with components from it’s original era. $900 is about double what I would think it worth.

They were okay frames. Nothing special. $900 is way way too much. A new $1000 bike would be a better bike.
