Does anyone still think that Jan can get on the podium in Paris? He is currently in 8th but needs to step it up over the next few mountain stages. If history plays out, Ulli tends to get better after the first mountain stage. I think he could still get 3rd.
Will someone please tell me why T-Mobile uses deeper carbon rims in mountain stages than in time trails?

In a word, NO, I think Jan is finished. I think the final two podium spots will play out between Basso, Liepheimer and Landis. I would be great to see an American sweep of the podium spots.
Imagine how the French would feel looking at that!
I know nothing but i hope he finishes 2nd Again one long TT at then end will help him get back plenty of time if he stays up-right…he is my favorite rider, tons a talent and well that about it…
Why would it be a problem for the French? It seems you are the one having a problem with the French always bringing the French-American hate stuff all the time…
aren’t you racing for the Christ btw? Only applies to part of your life?
I hope he can get on the podium, but I doubt it. Jan will be OK tomorrow. Telegraphe+Galibier is more like his kind of climb. Not super duper steep like the base of Ventoux or Alpe d’Huez where Lance drops him, but more a long grind topping out near 8000 ft. I don’ think that Lance has ever dropped Jan on Galibier. That being said, I believe it was in 1998 on Galibier when Jan lost the TdF to Pantani. It was raining and cold and Jan did not take a rain jacket for the desecent and froze trying to catch the pirate and was unable to bounce back for the final climb of the day.
From Velonews: We were really looking forward to today’s stage, but it was too much for my legs," said Ullrich, who crashed hard on a descent in Sunday’s stage. “My ribs were hurting today and it hurt a little to climb, but it didn’t matter. I would have lost two minutes anyway.”
I am normally a fan of yours on this forum, but today me thinks you are overtrained. All of your responses today regarding the tour have been very negative. Search past posts for the pictures of your cute wife and remind yourself that all is good!
W likes the French, I think he has several maids from your country.
or didn’t you know? jesus told his freaks it is ok to hate anybody who opposes his freaks’ bloody and f*cked wars. i guess the french are game because they had the guts to speak their minds.

Sorry if I offended you. I didn’t intend for it to be taken as anti-French hate speak. If that is how it came across I am sorry.
I thought it would be similar to how we as Americans are bothered when we don’t win the world basketball championship, and to be beaten by other countries at “our own sport”. I guess that wasn’t very clear.
Yes, I do race for Christ and no, it is not just part of my life but how I try to live every day and that is why it bothers me that I wrote something that was easily misunderstood.
the French haven’t won the Tour since 1985, Roland Garros since 1983, Wimbledon since 1920s…so, heck, we sure can wait a few more years! (decades should I say)…
Tha shame about not having an epic battle between LA and JU this year is that people will always say he could never beat LA even if he wins the TDF again. In essence, LA becomes godlike rather than being seen as a mortal that can be toppled - and I hate that vision of past athletes.
