Podcasts - Name your poison

Winter has come on like a mother here in KY and I’m looking for some new/different podcasts to listen to while riding the trainer.

I’d love to hear what others are listening to so please share! Thanks!

Not much of a podcaster, but I do enjoy these two:

Serial (info link)

The Moth (info link)

Cheers, Chris
.

Another vote for Serial. I also like Welcome to Night Vale.

I listen to a lot of podcasts and they are mostly history or science related.

The China History podcast
History of WWII
Stuff you missed in history class
Stuff you should know
The history of Rome, I haven’t started this one but I have heard it is good
Star talk
NPR Planet Money
Hardcore history

When I have to drive I listen to:

Real Time - Bill Maher
The Adam Carolla Show
Adam and Drew (similar to the old Love Line).

Joe Rogan (although a lot of it is crap, very guest dependent).

Adam Corolla

Dan Carlin’s Hardcore History (but he takes a loooonnnnng time between podcasts.

Some good ones listed already.

I’ll add

The skeptics guide to the universe

Radio lab

This American life

Dan Carlin’s Hardcore History (but he takes a loooonnnnng time between podcasts.

Never really done the podcast thing but this is the second or third time I’ve heard of this one. Do you pay for them or some secret to getting them free that I’m just not privy to?

Men in Blazers
Stuff you missed in History Class
Hang up and Listen

Ben Greenfield (where is that colorful pink font?)

I just go to iTunes podcast and subscribe. I’ve not aware of paying anything. Pretty sure it’s free.

“Cochise” is very good.

“Ghosts of the Ost Front” (4 parts iirc) is remarkable but at times very difficult to listen to.

Thanks, it looks like some are free and other you have to pay?

I think you have to pay for the older shows. On iTunes you should be able to download from show 40 until now. The Wrath of the Khans episodes are awesome.

Repeat of others but my regular rotation includes:

99% Invisible
Radiolab
The Moth
.

  1. Quirks and Quarks (CBC radio)
  2. Radiolab (WNYC / NPR)

Thanks, it looks like some are free and other you have to pay?

This a bit weird. I get mine free downloaded to my podcast app. If you go to iTunes (I haven’t looked at DCHH on iTunes for a couple years) it looks like you have to pay.

Like I said, when he makes a new podcast it just loads to my phone automatically for free.

Anyway if you have to pay it’s still worth it.

If you’re into home improvement listen to Gary Sullivan. All past episodes available as podcasts.

Hilarious Classic Loveline, Adam was a lot punchier then- I just listened to the Ron Jeremy episode, Ron was great- smart and quick witted. It is fun to listen to bands that hadn’t arrived quite yet, like the Goo Goo Dolls and then the other bands that were decent but never quite made it big.

Funny, improve genius

Stefan Molyneux, interesting philosophical, with a libertarian bend. I may not always agree but I usually learn something of substance.

Mark Levin, I try to listen to at least his opening monologues, they are usually pretty in depth and will cover more than mainstream talking points.
