Podcast: IMSG Course Preview with Rich Strauss and Lynda Wallenfels

Hi,

Lynda Wallenfels of LWCoaching.com is a professional mountain biker and coach, focusing on Xterra, 24hr, and 100 mile mtn bike races. She’s also a good friend, coaching colleague, and St. George resident

I called her this morning to tap into her local knowledge of the race: weather, the swim venue, transitions, small details of the bike and run courses, even the best places to spectate, park, and grab a cup of coffee during the race. We chatted for about 30’.

You can find the entire podcast on the Endurance Nation blog.

Enjoy

Thanks for posting this. Great resource!

Nice interview, thanks for sharing. Since I have done the St. George triathlon (early May) many times I’d like to add some additional weather-related observations.

Swim - the water in Sand Hollow for the St. George triathlon is usually in the low 60s - very comfortable in a full wetsuit.
Weather and Temp - most of the time the weather in early May is pleasant - mid-50s before sunrise and then working up to mid 80s in the afternoon. Last year for the SGTri there was a cold front moving through - no clouds or rain but steady 20 MPH winds with gusts to 30-40 MPH - sand everywhere, canceled the swim for the Sprint waves and quite cold (topped out at maybe 60 degrees for the day). One year it was dead calm and the temp got up to ~90. It can vary greatly.
