I am in, looking forward to some nice hills.
Coincedently I hear most of the bike course is the old Tour Dupont course which they did three or four times. So how hard can it be ;0)
I’ll be there. Looks like this could be one frigid day!
In…looking forward to it…hope the weather is cool but not cold!
ill be there…debating on bringing a road bike vs my tri bike.
I road the course a bit. For the first half a tribike is fine. the second half looked a bit harder but as luck would have it we drove that part and it looked mostly up hill going from mile 56 to mile 30 or so. It is a fifty fifty call. I am running the tribike with sub 9 and hed three. Is it a smart call??? Idk… but seasonschange said that is best :0). It will be cold in the morning but looks like it will warm up by the run.
Wherebis everyone staying? I am at the Great Wolf lodge with my family.
I jumped on the Treetop Villas a while back…I know I know I’ve heard they’re a bit “dated” …have fam coming up as well and wanted to be sure I had a place secured.
I’m in. I have made three onsite visits to this venue. I think the two transition zones are going to make it more of a logistics headache then most events. I think doing the swim in a river that is often closed due to unsafe conditions is going to be a problem. I think doing the bike ride on narrow, hilly, twisting roads with pot holes, fissures and covered with sand, tree debrie, and of course the gravel hill from hell will make it really sporty. And lets not forget the run that is uphill for 6.65 miles (and to be fair it is on a good road surface, which also goes down hill for the second 6.65 miles). Throw in a few snow flakes and this event could become a classic. HTFU Tim
We should have a solid group there, planning on:
Mike Caiazzo
Ryan Bates
Zach Ruble
Kyle Pawlaczyk
Daniel Bretscher
.
I’ll be there and looking forward to it! Didn’t get a chance to check out the bike course so will either do it the Friday or Saturday before or squeeze it in another day this week
i will be there as long as there’s a swim.
holiday day inn express for me.
I’m there. Can’t wait. Signed up recently, so no place yet.
Glad to see you are back at it! Best of luck!
A bit expensive but there is the great wolf lodge. If you have kids and your wife is used to schlepping them to IM events she will definitely thank you. Unless you have a lil bloke that will try to dive off the third floor balcony for shit and giggles, like mine. Other wise it will give them something to do at the indoor water park :0)
I’ll be there! Look for the Athlete Guide to be posted today on the website. Just checked and it’s not there yet - but technically there are still 9 hours and 45 min left in “today”.
Glad to see you are back at it! Best of luck!
Ready to have a go at it again , though it took me 2hrs 20min54sec to ride just 48 this morning. But my HR Only averaged 124bpm the whole ride so that is good. Don’t think I have a chance at being competitive but it is what it is. A nice training day. I did a sprint yesterday came in 18 th overall and 2nd in my AG. 1st in AG passed me in last 1000 meters I thought his calf said 48 or would have laid chase , drafted him and passed in the final 25 of the run. Oh well it was a good comeback anyway :0) swam the 1/4 mile in 6:00 flat which is good but swim was probably a bit short. Shoulder felt good in the cold bay water. It is a little sore now so I have ice on it. Run is about 2:00 minutes off of where it should be for my tri 5k :0( hopefully it will comeback with training.
I am in. Wife is doing it along with 4 other friends from CT and VA. Since my wife grew up in the area, we are staying at the in-laws.
Good luck with the inlays ;0). I will be the guy wearing a Polar shirt at the expo so if anyone sees me feel free to stop me and say Hi! It is good put faces with online names
That is cool looking forward to seeing them make mince meat of the course!!!
I’m doing Pocono Mts as my first 70.3. Got into Lake Placid for 2012 too. If you will it, it is no dream. Have a great race everyone.
