Pneumonia! Thats why I feel like crap

No wonder I feel so bad, no desire to swim bike or run since st anthony’s. Well I now have 3more weeks of no activity to help recover from that melt down on sunday. Good-by fitness.

Anyone experienced this during training? is the 3weeks off from the doctor standard recovery time??

Same thing hit my wife a few winters ago. She took three weeks off. Not to worry, she came back stronger than ever, although a little hard at first after three weeks off.

I hate to say I told you so, but … Actually, I get a kick out of saying it.

I hope you mend quickly. Give in quickly. Recover quickly. Been there, done that. If you fight it, it will only take longer.

I was diagnosed with pnemonia about 4 weeks before Half-Ironman California. I was told to rest for two weeks. I did it, then eased back into training (Day 1: walk. Day 2: easy swim. Day 3: easy jog. Day 4: regular bike). I was able to finish the race, but I still didn’t feel quite right. My 6:35:00 goal turned into a 6:52:00 finish. I began feeling “normal” about 6 weeks after the diagnosis. I’m glad I didn’t push too hard & have a relapse. I’ll choose health over a PR any day!

Even though I felt like I could push harder, I also admited to myself that I didn’t feel fully recovered yet. I think my body was telling me something, and (for once) I listened. Best of luck on your recovery!
