Plantar pain now numb heel and achilles - how much should I worry?

I’ve been dealing with a bad case of PF for a few months now - I’m not running, doing all the icing, stretching, etc, and even going to a massage therapist and chiro. The PF still won’t budge. In the last few days, my heel and lower achilles have been feeling numb and the sensation seems to be spreading. I have an appointment with a soft tissue/ART specialist on 1/2, but I’m wondering if this numbness is a sign of something bad that can’t wait until then. Ideas?

No idea about the numbness you are experiencing. Have had PF since September and the heel pain has been gone for about a month. Now have the achilles pain in lower ankle area. Went to Physical therapy and they me some stretches seemd to help the achilles. Again cannot cooment on the numbness.
Hang in there PF is isnsidious. Only injury I have had in 20+ years of running.

Good Luck

Google “night splint” and buy one. Never walk barefoot - get Birkenstocks. The night splint will do more to help than all other remedies combined.

Never walk barefoot

I completely disagree with the advice of never walking barefoot. The only walking barefoot will do is stretch the area. I cured my Plantar Fascia in about 30 seconds. I ran barefoot on the grass. It has never acted up since. Here are some links:

I would get a little worried if you’re feeling “numbness” For future reference, rolling my foot on a rolling pin, has done wonders for me.

I had a bad Achilles that did not respond to PT, stretching (including a night splint), or strengthening exercises. Then I started soaking just the heel in icewater by leaning back in a reclining chair almost to the vertical position, so only the heel and achilles were submerged. 10-15 minutes in icewater after each exercise. After a month or so I was cured. Icing with ice cubes did not work. I think the difference is the right temperature and immersion for full contact.
