Plantar fasciitis and cycling?

Can cycling cause plantar fasciitis? Before you say no, I haven’t been cycling lately, only running, I was on somebody else’s bike and I discovered after the ride that one of the allen screws in his cleat had come undone causing the shoe to twist freely on the cleat.

After this ride about a week ago, I have been very busy with work and actually running much LESS than usual when the pain has developed. The only other time I got PF was a few years ago when I did a marathon with not enough training. I don’t remember if it was the same or different foot.

I am not a doctor or anything like that, but this is what my friend who is PT just said (asked her over MSN):
if the pain started a whole week after cycling, it is not very likely that it was caused by cycling.
However, that loose cleat could have caused your calf muscles to overwork and become tight, and then
running on tight calves could have injured your plantar fascia.
