Plan B (with Halifax cancelled)

Anyone have some suggestions for a plan b long race to replace the cancelled Nova Scotia 101 as the big race on my schedule? Some possibilities I have thought of so far are:

  1. Savageman 1/2 in Maryland
  2. Vermont 1/2 IM in late August
  3. Cleveland 1/2 IM in early August
  4. Chesepeakeman
  5. Silverman
  6. IM Western Australia
  7. getting my kitchen redone

anything other suggestions?

Newfoundland 70.3 at the end of July, if you still want a Maritime race?

Silverman, VEGAS BABY VEGAS!

also look into Diamondman 1/2 in Delaware - I did this last year as it coincided with a business trip to DC, and was really happy with the race. I think it takes place in the first few weeks of September.

Also, the Lonestar half in Austin in October–an Endorfun Sports event.

VT Sun is nice–quiet, smaller race. Check out the bike course and see if you like that kind of out and back–I know that’s not for everyone.

I also heard there is a “Nutmeg half IM” in Connecticut in late September.

Check out Mightyman Montauk (1/2 IM) at the end of September. Great race and a beautiful area that time of the year.

If folks can get over the fact that there’s NO SWIM (this is a positive in my book, for sure), then come out and play at American Zofingen on 10/14/07.

5/84/15 ultra duathlon, hilly the whole way. There’s yer A race.

Do Savageman, awesome race and very challenging course. it will be all the buzz after, so be a part of the inagural race. and it is beautiful up there, you can take an extra day or two and play in the water or go hiking.

AUSTIN, TEXAS!!! LONGHORN TRIATHLON FESTIVAL, Oct 5-7…be there or be square:)

Live music, great food, great course, and BEER…what more could you possibly want???

I second Silverman, did the race last year and loved it. I’d be back there this year if I wasn’t doing IMMOO.

You could roll the dice and give Woodlands 101 a shot…

If you still want to come to the Maritimes, there is a “relatively” local race that same weekend:

Tracadie-Sheila Triathlon (1/2 IM, sprint tri, sprint du)

go to atlanticchip.ca to sign up.

I’ve never done it, and know nothing about Tracadie, but I’ll probably sign up for that one instead. It’s about a 5 hour drive from Halifax.

Cancun 70.3 in September, or SOMA in October
.

You also have the 1/2 IM (of full) Canadian in Ottawa first week of Sept and/or the 1/2 IM (or full) Esprit in Montreal (can you say you have “raced” with your bike on a Formula One Circuit?

Cheers,
Fred.
