Any recommendations from locals or previous racers for a postrace pizza parlor in Tempe? We’re going to need as much pizza and beer as we can get before collapsing for the night (and hopefully going back and cheering from 11-12).
I’d say pizza isn’t your best bet in Tempe… you may be better off settling down at Z-Tejas w/a good margarita and several plates of their awesome grilled shrimp & guac tostada bites. Just up Mill Ave most of the way up to University. Otherwise there’s Pizzeria Uno a block away. Gordon Biersch is over-rated and probably not a good choice the restaurant is up a flight of stairs the seond floor. Of course the fare at Taco del Mar is top-rate for cheap eats. Bostons gormet Pizza is where we eat. It is on University west of Mill. They have good pasta too.

There is a Pizzeria Uno on Mill St. Granted, it’s a chain restaurant, but the deep dish pizza is good…and filling.

Ugh I ate at that Pizzaria Uno before SOMA and got sick (granted, I ate a whole deep-dish by myself, but still…)

I had papa johns. They deliver, and that was a requirement. And that’s what I’ll have after the race (I will call and have one delivered when I’m leaving the race site…I’ll likely eat a couple slices every few hours when i wake up through the night). But right after the race I will have an In and Out Burger, Fries and Shake that my sister will have standing by. Along with a Sierra Nevada.
And Newbz, I won’t comment on you lurking in the Womens room

and, papa johns = amazing. they have garlic sauce for gods sake!!!
Oreganos by far. best pizza around. You can even get white pizzas (With alfredo instead of tomato sauce), and tons of various toppings. Goes great with a kiltlifter!
