Just wanting to see if there will be any ST’ers out there tomorrow or Sunday.
I won’t be. I was just telling someone on Tuesday that they were nuts for doing the Acsent. By Wednesday I decided to make it an A race for 2008
Good luck!!!
I’ll be racing the Ascent, bib number 19. Should be a good day, I’m just hoping not too warm at this point. I’m psyched!

***EDIT
I am really surprised not more tri people do the Ascent. The leg strength from cycling really plays to your advantage in this race. I always finish with runners that are much higher caliber athletes than I (as runners).
So SIGN UP FOR NEXT YEAR!!!
This is my first summer in the area, so I made sure to sign up for the Ascent before I knew what I was really getting into. I’ll be way in the back and my bib number 1669 reflects that… But as long as I can still walk the next day, I plan on volunteering on Sunday at the Marathon- now those are some insane people
!
Did anyone check out the registrations all ordered by prediction? http://www.pikespeakmarathon.org/regstats/2007/ppa_predict.htm It’s pretty funny- there’s some girls who predict beating Matt Carpenter!

Make sure to let us all know how it was! Good luck!
Wendy,
You should not have problems with sore legs on Sunday, unless the total duration of the event is really long for you. (Say longer than your long bike rides.)
That is one of the great things about this race. Since it is all uphill, your legs don’t get the pounding that running typically delivers. The result is that the next day feels much more like the day after a long and hard bike ride, not the day after a long run.
I hadn’t seen the predictions; many are pretty funny! You can easily see who lied (or was just plain clueless), and who is legit by the bib number. Bib <=32 means that they were a “top” runner last year. Looking at those times, it looks like everyone picked their finish time from last year, or maybe average of a couple of years. I now actually feel bad about predicting 2 minutes faster than last year! Well, hopefully the optimism pays off ![]()

Yes, race reports after please! This race intrigues me.
