Pictures of my Easton Attack TT with HED carbon armrests

I promised that I would take some pictures as soon as I had some time so here they are. I like they way they feel in comparison to the Easton armrests. Also since the bars were a bit short in the extensions, this set up is 100% perfect and a lot better support for the forearms.

clean.

Any chance you could snap a photo of the pads with the armrest removed? I would like to see how you modified the mounting holes for the arm rest. I have a spare set of HED armrest waiting for my attacks to arrive and I plan on making this same modification.

Thanks.

All I did was take a file and filed two of the holes into slots so that the stock bolts would work. It worked very well. My dremel is not working right now (killed it) so I had to use a round hand file. A dremel would have worked a lot better and a lot quicker. I figured out what holes would put the pads in the exact position that I wanted and went to work. You only have to file a little bit out of each hole. So basically make it into a slot but not that much. I think the spacing on the HED bars is 25mm and the spacing on the Easton bars is 20mm so all you have to do is make the holes into slots that are 2.5mm longer. I think that I went 3mm longer.

Cheers.

Boy, that is a super clean front end/cockpit! Very nice.

and mounted backwards…

Mounted Backwards? If you are talking about the armrest pads, they are mounted the correct way! I do not do things backwards without a good reason and this is not a good reason.

I took my time looking for all the parts that I wanted for my build and this is exactly what I wanted. Personally I can not think of a better set up with the ability to move the handle bars and stem independently. I could have gone with a one piece system but wanted a bit more versatility.

Nice! what is the elbow pad width inside to inside and bolt to bolt? I am assuming that you used the outside bolt holes so they are as narrow as possible?

No, you’ve nailed it. The stem/base bar in one system doesn’t cut it - not enough fleixibility and options for fit. I even see the sexy skewer peeking out in one of the picks. You’ve selected pretty much the best there is currtenly. Good taste!

Ian

I could have gone more high end but the skewers are OmniRacer and not M2 Racer. Ernie at OmniRacer is a great guy. I also could have gone with the Sram levers which are a bit lighter still but I like what I have done and it works great.

I actually went with the inside holes so that I could have the pad a bit more spaced. I find it very hard to ride with them as far in as possible. This is the most comfortable position that I have ridden in, in a long time. Perfect for my body type.

do you know the widths? inside to inside and bolt to bolt?

Pads are set up at 90mm inside edge to inside edge.

Bolt width center to center is 150mm.

Bolt for/aft center to center is 20mm.

wow great job, i’m definitely going to get that setup next. the F99 is a nice clean stem that looks good on any bike. i wish Easton would take a page from their book and ditch the ugly silver stem faceplates.

I’m interested in the Easton bar. For bar sizing(S-225mm, M-250mm, L-275mm), what are the measurements from the elbow pads, center to center; and the measurement from the tip of the carbon extension, to the center rear of the elbow pads?

Your whole bike looks great. Really clean. How stiff are the Heds? Do you feel comfortable putting alot of pressure on them, like when your doing an out of the saddle climb.
Thanks, Kevin

I actually do not grab them when climbing but otherwise they are great. I do have to change out the pads to either the new HED pads or some CeeGee’s.

I have been injured this year so I have not been doing a ton of riding but so far they are great on the few rides I have done. I am going to do a few rides this weekend I hope so I can give some more informationn later.

I also picked up a pair of the 05 Ti Zero Gravity brakes this week for a steal so the whole bike is pretty much black now and a bit lighter. The SS zero gravity brakes are going to a new home once I have time to sort out the sales I have going in the classifieds.

A few new pictures for the post.
