Picking the right frame material, step-by-step

pretty good; pretty true.

But, I think Curtlo is the frontrunner for a functional, cheap, steel frame.

You are so cleaver!!!

And smart!!!

I bet your mommy is soooo proud.

Does she know your playing on the computer?

nyuk nyuk.

i like #5.

i have both a curtlo and a gunnar, as it happens. one is custom, one is not - different categories. neither, tho, is a business park design/marketing group pretending to be a bicycle manufacturer - so, all good.

I ended up with an aluminum Specialized…

What happens if you don’t care what other people think of your bike, but you do care where it’s made, by whom and of what?

A Moots or a Kent Eriksen!

So what you are saying is… STEEL IS REAL? At some point…ride a friggin bike-steel, carbon, aluminum, whatEVER.

Funnny, but there’s a major flaw in this - I think the OP may have accidentally reversed the yes/no logic. See, there is no combination of answers that leads to “Buy a Cervelo” when in reality, EVERY combination of answers should lead to that conclusion.

agreed. any flow chart that does not at least consider a Cervelo has to be flawed!

Btw, this is the first time i have come across Litespeed being described as a mainstream brand.

OP: where do you live? Rodeo Drive?

Yeah, I’m mean Cervelo has cornered the market in convincing poeple they are THE ONLY tri bike manufacturer in existence, based on visual evidence in transition areas this year!
…I’m insecure and ride a Litespeed Saber :). I see maybe 3-4 other Litespeeds at races, tops. Otherwise, very clever.

  1. First ya gets yer magnet…

In my experience, in Northern Cali, there seem to be a TON of litespeeds. Elsewhere they seem to be more of a niche brand.

I don’t get #5

does any bike manuf. (specialized, trek, cervelo, guru…) do more than just make the frame and slap on others’ parts? I don’t remember seeing trek handlebars or cranks out there.

In my experience, in Northern Cali, there seem to be a TON of litespeeds. Elsewhere they seem to be more of a niche brand.

In northern Bavaria there are just two Litespeeds.

Both are mine.

Trek owns Bontrager. Trek probably makes more of their bikes than any other manufacturer (of course, some of it is just rebranding)

A Moots or a Kent Eriksen!
Is Ericksen’s new venture up and running? I bought my Vamoots the year before he “decided to pursue other options”, so I feel very fortunate. But I would like to see his new line. A guy can always use one more bike, after all

I say well done. But bear in mind I had to read no further than 3.

"i like #5. "

Hee, hee. I have two of them.

I landed at 11 but would have preferred 14.

Thats funny, I’d like to buy either choice at #11 but just ordered something close to #14 (Sycip)

Thanks!

Pretty good. On #3 I would include Chucksbikes.com for the poor people who want to go tri.
